Top Sledding Hills

Recently I've been looking for a good sledding hill near our house to take the kids and to find one advertised has been a challenge. I thought I would create a list that you can post your favorite sledding hill so that others can enjoy it too. Feell free to comment and I'll add your information to the list.

TIP - Some sledding hills are much faster than they look. Tip of the day - Unless you really want sled tracks up your back, highly recommended to never turn your back to the sledders at the top of the hill. This could be a replay of "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" scene that could go haywire real quick.

This list is organized Alphabetically by State and then by town or city.

MAINE

Rotary Park, Biddeford, Maine Once a home to skiers this hill doesn't look like much from the road. As you drive down its dirt road path heading towards the river reveals a nice surprise. During the summer months, you can find pieces of an old foundation peaking from the ground reminder you of what once was. The park also offers a teen center and during the summer a life guarded sandy beach swimminghole with a great area for picnicing under the canopy of trees

Camden Snow Bowl, Camden, Maine. Historians know the small town of Camden, Maine as the birth of place of noted social activist Dorothea Dix. Most Maine residents today also know Camden Maine as a top sledding spot in Maine, especially if your sledding runs towards tubing or tobogganing. While Maine has lots of hills for backyard sledding, it's also fun for the more daring to try out group sledding, toboggan style. If that's what you are into then one of the top sledding places in Maine has got to be the Camden Snow Bowl.

Eastern Promenade, Portland, Maine Portland, Maine is one of the state's largest and best known cities. During the winter months the Eastern Promenade in Portland, Maine attracts many amateur sledding enthusiasts of all ages. The city of Portland maintains a public park called Eastern Promenade Park that commands a spectacular view of Casco Bay and a 1.5 mile walkway to let visitors enjoy the spectacle.

This park is a hit all year round, a great spot to cool off in summer but a equally enjoyable venue for sledding with the onset of winter. There is plenty of parking , a great down hill run, lots of company, no cost and the on going view of what it means to be from Maine. Bring your sled and your family to one of the top sledding spots in Maine at Eastern Promenade in the city of Portland, Maine.

Powder House Hill, South Berwick, Maine - Thanks to Matthew for posting a comment. I'm looking forward to trying this place out.       Another FREE place to sled or snow tube is Powder House Hill in South Berwick. They do have a website http://www.powderhousehill.com/; however it does not advertise the sledding hill. But it's there and thriving with individuals of all ages. Free parking too!


Seacoast Fun Park, Windham, Maine The Lakes Region of Maine may sound more like a summer vacation spot than a winter one and yet in Windham, Maine in the midst of the Lakes Region you can find Seacoast Fun Park and lots of great tubing options for wintertime fun.
